CD Projekt Red held a live preview of Cyberpunk 2077 over the duration of EGX 2019 in London. We were fortunate enough to visit the preview and can tell you we were very impressed by what the game has to offer.

The show was highly popular and tickets went quick. The narration and game-play were perfectly in sync, complimenting each other whilst the audience were captivated for the whole 50 minutes. The gameplay felt very immersive, which I personally found beautiful. The live game-play presentation took place approximately halfway through the main campaign where you played as the mercenary V.

Before the event many people complained that the game wasn’t playable yet. I completely understand why the developers chose this as I got everything I needed from watching someone else play.

We were shown a new angle of Pacifica, the first of which to be shown in the UK. Pacifica is the shell of a city once destined for power, superiority and success now overrun by several Gangs (both good and bad). The demo showcased the Samurai, Voodoo Boys, Animals and NetWatch.

We also saw how the choices we make in the game are completely up to us even stating that the whole game can be played without killing a single person. This meant you could go in all guns blazing as a strong solo relying on your pure muscle or decide to be a Netrunner, tip toeing quietly, using the environment to your advantage, where stealth and hacking are your forte.

Characters are fully customizable, and you start by picking a lifepath at the beggining of the game. You can choose between Streetkid, Nomad or Corporate. Next is choosing your body type either male or female. You can change your appearance, by modifying skin tone, hair and eyes and you can also change the realskinn appearance that covers the cybernetic implants on your face. Lastly, due to the RPG nature of the game you will are also given the opportunity to assign your attribute points and skills, this helps build the player you want to fit around your play style.

Another gameplay feature that caught our attention was the ability to drive and interact seamlessly with missions and characters with no need to get off your bike. It was fascinating to see this new style of play. By the end of the demo it left you wanting to find out more.

I have included a YouTube Video from cyberpunk below that shows snippets of what we saw in the 50-minute live demo. Enjoy!
